What Is Happening in Transit


VTA’s Adam Berger provides a high-level view of transit and the typical fare recovery. VTA’s fare recover is only about 12 cents on the dollar. In other words, the $1.75 fare that someone pays to ride VTA transit actually costs about eight times that much. It doesn’t have to be that way, as other, albeit more dense areas, have figured out how to make a profit on its transit operations.
