Will insurance companies insure autonomous vehicles? If so, who will need to be insured; the auto manufacturer, the owner, the service provider? Maybe it won’t be that important, because of the increased safety surrounding autonomous vehicles. Alain Kornhauser suggests the latter may be the case, as evidenced by Volvo’s announcement that they will assume liability for their self-driving vehicles.
