Don Weden provides an abbreviated version of his Santa Clara 3.0 presentation. Weden, a retired head of planning for Santa Clara County brings the perspective who someone who understands the changes that took us from the rural Valley of the Hearts Delight to the suburban Silicon Valley. His presentation is important as we are again shifting to something new; what he terms Santa Clara County 3.0. The shape of Santa Clara County 3.0 will be determined by many things, including an aging population where 1 in 4 of adults will be over 65 by 2030. As he points out, the people of this valley have never been this old and the suburban environment “was planned for when we were young.”
